How Much Dry Ice to Use for Dry Ice Blasting

Dry ice pellet usage is measured in pounds per minute or ppm for blast cleaning.

Dry ice blasting machines vary by model, but dry ice usage can be less than 1 pound per minute (ppm) or as high as 7 ppm.
Typically 2.5 - 3.5 pounds of dry ice is used per minute of dry ice blast time.
A good rule of thumb is to order 1,000 pounds of blasting ice per 8-hour shift.
At 3 pounds per minute (ppm), 1,000 pounds provides 5.5 hours of uninterrupted blasting.
